Tuna Sashimi Rice Bowl (Tekkadon)

A quick and healthy grain bowl that is great for lunch or dinner. The freshness of the tuna, avocado, edamame and cucumber are a nice complement to the delicious rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 servings of Japanese rice uruchimai
  • 9 oz of sashimi tuna try yellowfin tuna from Fish for Sushi
  • 4 nori sheets – cut into strips
  • Season with Spice’s Japanese Seven Spice Shichimi Togarashi
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 3-4 scallions – chopped

For the dipping sauce:

  • Soy sauce
  • Wasabi

Instructions
 

  • Defrost tuna in the refrigerator the night before, per instructions in video (above).
  • On the next day, start by cooking rice. While the rice is cooking, slice tuna, cut nori sheets, and chop scallions.
  • Fill each serving bowl with rice first. Then top one side with tuna slices. Sprinkle Japanese Seven Spice and toasted sesame seeds on tuna and rice.
  • Then place nori and scallions on top of rice.
  • Serve with a side dish of soy sauce and wasabi.
