Radish Salad

For summer salads, let whichever vegetable is most abundant from the garden or at the farmer’s market become the star of your salad.

In August, try a Thai Corn Salad.  In July, a Smacked Cucumber in Garlicky Sauce Salad.

And right now in June – with so many fresh and bright and flavorful radishes around – make this Radish Salad spiced with Sumac & Aleppo.

When shopping for radishes at the farmer’s market, look for a bunch with very green leafy tops.  If the tops are fresh, then the radishes are fresh – perfect for taking center stage in your June summer salad.

Another reason for choosing radishes with fresh green tops? They make an excellent green for Asian-style stir-fries.

After you chop off the leafy tops (to save them for stir-frying later), slice up the radishes and mix them with extra virgin olive oil, fresh cilantro or basil, a squeeze of lemon juice, and a pinch of sea salt.

Finally, spice up this radish salad with a little Middle Eastern touch with a dash each of savory-vinegary Aleppo Chili Flakes, and fruity-tart Sumac Berry Powder. They both add a fun color and zing to the salad.

Enjoy this simple Radish Salad spiced with Sumac and Aleppo as a side to your grilled fish, kebobs, tacos, or tandoori chicken.
